Home Sweet New Home

As new Saint Petersburg residents, my husband and I have decided to have touristy dates to explore our city. We were born Tampa Bay Area residents, but I’m sure this isn’t uncommon, no matter how long you live somewhere, the experience as a resident compared to a tourist is very different. As residents, I find we often take our landmarks for granted. I can’t tell you the last time I went to the beach! Yesterday was our first trip out, doing something other than trying the many restaurants, which I very much enjoy.

Sunken Gardens in St Pete

This sunday, we took a trip to the local tourist stop, Sunken Gardens. In truth, we had considered it a venue for our wedding, before we found the Powell. The pictures I found only though, just didn’t do the gardens justice. Sunken Gardens is absolutely gorgeous though. The experience, as new home owners, is likely different from the average visitor, but maybe not. We couldn’t help looking for what might look nice in our own yards. The previous homeowner loved her garden, and we found that many of the plants we saw here we already have! After leaving, I wished I had taken more pictures. I was too busy enjoying my time with my husband. Not a bad thing! I also find myself now wishing that I had a nice ‘real’ camera. For now, my images come to you via the have-with-me-everywhere iPhone. I will say, I don’t recommend visiting the Sunken Gardens in the summer. Spring is probably best. We were a little cold in all the shade and wind this weekend, but it was still lovely.

Now that some of the craziness is dying down for the early part of the year: Moving, Holidays, Bridal Showers, Baby showers, (because you know there will be much more this year!,) we can now enjoy each other and our new home…. and of course, get to crafting. I haven’t posted anything here yet, because I’m really just getting started, but if you are on Twitter you can follow along here.

Happy Monday.
