The main reason I have been MIA: finals weeks! But now school is finally over! (At least for the semester.) Three A’s and B!
So now I have a week off before starting all over again, or that’s the idea! I definitely want to get some sewing time in! (Although I promised my fiancé some spring cleaning and told my employer I was available to work twice as many hours as usual.)
I think I have decided on my next project: bibs for new Foster Care children. Try out some curved lines and hand sewing! I searched all over for the pattern that I liked the best and ended with the one I found on the blog, Sew-funky.com. (http://www.sew-funky.com/2008/10/23/new-bibs/ and http://sew-funky.blogspot.com/2008/02/tutorial-make-bib.html) as well as one on liaspace.com (http://www.liaspace.com/2010/04/tutorial-babys-bibs.html?showComment=1271079996049) which is where I found a pattern to use.
So I bought some of the supplies that I will need to complete the project.
I think there might still be some supplies I need to get but since I have been focusing on school, I haven’t really taken time to look into it just yet. I’m hoping to start on them by at least Tuesday.
I told the non-profit organization that I was going to attempt these bibs. If they are a failure, I’ll just have to find a new use for the material? But if they come out good then maybe I make some more… or maybe I’ll try something else that they need.
And because I can never completely focus on one project at a time. I also checked out some books from my local library for some more “light” reading. I’m hoping to find some good tips and project ideas in at least some of these books. If there is a book that you think a beginner sewer MUST check out, please let me know! 🙂 The librarian told me she thought I was crazy for getting so many books! You just don’t know which book will be helpful until you’ve had a chance to check them all out, I think.
That’s all I’ve got for now.
Time to work.
Hope everyone is having a great weekend so far!
